School Group Visits at the Churchill Museum

Reservations

Reservations are required

Reservations are awarded on a first come, first served basis. Please note that large groups may be divided into smaller sections for guided tours.

To make reservations, fill out our online field trip reservation form. Upon receipt of your request, you will receive a confirmation email. 

Student Admission Fees

Admission is as follows:

Payment can be made in advance, through purchase orders, credit cards, cash, or check.

Chaperone Requirements & Admission

We require a 1:15 chaperone/student ratio. It is the responsibility of the chaperones to maintain orderly student behavior.

Chaperones qualifying under the 1:15 ratio receive free museum admission. All additional chaperones will be charged $10.00. 

Bus Parking

Bus parking is available directly next to the Museum (7th and Westminster). It is on a first come, first served basis. Other free parking is available along 7th Street and along Westminster Ave.

Self-Guided Tours

Teachers are welcome to lead students independently through the exhibits. However, one chaperone is required for every 15 students. Reservations are needed for groups of 10 or more. Self-guided tours for smaller groups are allowed without a reservation but if you would like a scavenger hunt, please contact us ahead of time and we'll have worksheets, clipboards, and pencils ready for your students.

Standard Self-Guided Tour

During an interactive tour of the "Winston S. Churchill: A Life of Leadership" exhibit, students learn about Churchill's life experiences and leadership qualities through a multi-scensory experience.

World of Winston*

Self-guided tour using The Museum Experience I: The World of Winston workbook. This tour option includes pre-visit activities that should be completed in the classroom prior to the museum experience. Divided into teams, students examine Churchill's world through his travels, using their communication skills to describe his journeys in first-person accounts.

Winston's Changing World*

Self-guided tour using The Museum Experience II: Winston's Changing World workbook. Winston's Changing World provides students a view of the changing technologies in Churchill's world, from horseback on the northwest frontier in India to the world's nuclear capabilities of the Cold War. Analyzing the use of technologies, students will examine Churchill's leaderhip.

20th Century Leaders*

Self-guided tour using The Museum Experience III: 20th Century Leaders workbook. The tour engages high school students in following the voice and actions of Churchill as a leader, focusing on his allies and enemies through three wars. Students will better understand how a leader gathers evidence from his experiences and uses it to help shape the world's future.

Scavenger Hunts

Self-guided tour with three worksheet options.

  • Grades PreK-3: Identify objects and pictures throughout the exhibit
  • Grades 4-8: Questions about Churchill's life and career
  • Grades 9-12, College: Fun and interesting questions about Churchill, Church of St. Mary, and the Berlin Wall

Guided Tours

Museum tours for school groups of eight or more students are scheduled twice daily, 10:00am and 1:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Reservations are required at least two weeks in advance and 30 days for outreach/classroom programs.

Guided museum tours have a maximum number of 25 students.

Walk in Churchill's Shoes Guided Tour

Build leadership skills with this team oriented workshop. The group will discuss what makes a good leader, create a working definition of leader/leadership, and discover Churchill's leadership style and how it changed through his lifetime.

The Era of the Iron Curtain Guided Tour

A guided tour focusing on the events surrounding Churchill's 1946 Iron Curtain speech and the Cold War that followed. There is an optional paper assignment as a post-visit activity.

Guided Video Tour

Students complete a worksheet while watching three key videos, pre-WWII, WWII, and Churchill's visit to Fulton. This tour is ideal for groups limited on time.

Lunch Options

The Museum suggests four dining options for school groups.

Museum Rules

Photography: Photography is allowed but flash photography is not.

Restrooms: Public restrooms are available.

Museum Store: Students must be supervised when in the Museum gift shop.

Food & Drink: No food or drink, including gum, candy, or bottled water, is allowed in the Museum. Please see Lunch Options if you want to eat lunch on site. It is the responsibility of the school group to remove any trash from the grounds.

Please discuss proper behavior for attending the Museum with students before arrival.
