Overview

This position will work closely with all staff to ensure the Museum functions smoothly on a daily basis by supervising the Visitor Services Associates and will be responsible for patrols and upkeep of the exhibit space and other public areas of the Museum. The post demands superb customer relations skills and a commitment to hospitality for all Museum visitors and guests. This position will assist with the facilitation of programs and outreach projects. This individual must be able to work and communicate effectively with students, staff, volunteers, members, and VIP visitors to the Museum.

Responsibilities
  • Visitor Services/Admissions desk: train and supervise Visitor Services Associates, create weekly employee schedules and implement operating procedures.
  • Oversee and manage accounting receipts for admissions, Museum store sales, and group tours.
  • Coordinate reservations and assign tour guides for group tours and events.
  • Direct and manage Visitor Services Associations to implement visitor research projects (ex: survey implementation), membership sales, and other marketing services.
  • Museum store: maintain a professional appearance of Museum store.
  • Technical support: Assist with functionality of Museum exhibits.
  • Assist Curatorial Staff with maintaining, organizing, and safeguarding public exhibit areas. 
  • Organize and lead monthly Visitor Services Associates staff meetings.
Skill Requirements
  • Ability to communicate with all kinds of persons, both orally and written.
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy and speed in using a personal computer, with an emphasis in word-processing.
  • Strong English grammar and editorial skills.
  • Ability to establish rapport with students, staff, faculty, and Board members.
  • A respect for confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Education: Bachelor's degree 

Experience: One to two years of experience in managing staff and customer service.
