I am very pleased to announce that Dr. James H. Williams will be joining us as Executive Director of the National Churchill Museum; he will also serve as the Sandra and Monroe Trout Professor of Churchillian Studies.  A 1986 Graduate of Westminster College, Jim returns to his alma mater from his current position as Professor of History and Director of the Albert Gore Research Center at Middle Tennessee State University.  Jim holds an MA in History from the College of William and Mary and a Ph.D. in History from Vanderbilt University.  Jim’s scholarly interests include the history of colonial North American and the Atlantic world.  A Fellow of the National Churchill Museum, Jim wrote his senior thesis at Westminster on the history of the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library Project, 1961-1969.  He brings a wealth of academic, business, and development experience to the position and will represent the Museum and the College with distinction in the Churchill world.

I would like to thank everyone who participated in the selection process; your efforts are deeply appreciated.  Special thanks to the members of the Search Committee—Kurt Jefferson (Chair), Jean-Paul Montupet, Jim Schmuck, Suzanne Richardson, Jane Bell, Bill Sheehan, and Lisa Reffett.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Jim Williams home to Westminster College.
