Considering Churchill’s Future

The 37th International Churchill Conference will be held at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, between Thursday the 22nd and Saturday the 24th of October 2020.

This conference seeks to bring together past, present and future. We will mark the sacrifices of the Battle of Britain and the Blitz, 80 years on, and celebrate the seventy-fifth anniversary of the end of the Second World War. But we will also take the unique opportunity to hear from some of those who remember Churchill, focusing especially on the women who supported him, while discussing his changing legacy. Through it all, we promise good food, fine wine and stimulating conversation in the best Churchillian tradition.

NOTE ON CONFERENCE AND COVID-19 Thank you so much for your interest for the forthcoming International Churchill Conference. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause global uncertainty and, while we continue to follow developments very closely, we cannot be certain that this event will go ahead and aim to take a final decision before the end of May once the post lockdown situation becomes clearer. We will then inform you immediately. However, at this time, we feel we must advise against any additional expenditure on flights and hotels.

The opening night reception will take place between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm at The Royal Air Force Club in London’s Mayfair. Bowl food and Pol Roger Champagne will be served, with return transportation offered from the Marriott. Guests will be free to organise their own dinner arrangements afterwards if they wish.

Conference sessions will begin at 9.00 am and run through until 3.30 pm. During the day distinguished speakers will include Allen Packwood, Admiral Chris Parry, Graham Farmelo, Karen von Hippel, Sonia Purnell, Catherine Katz and Annie Gray. Following the final session of the day, delegates booking VIP and Blenheim Packages will attend an exclusive Churchill and Pol Roger Champagne tasting and lecture. Dinner will be served in the Ballroom at the hotel in the evening.

Organised tours in the morning will include the Churchill War Rooms, HMS Belfast and the Imperial War Museum, with the final conference sessions at the hotel in the afternoon following lunch. Our panellists will include Andrew Roberts, Katherine Carter, Celia Sandys, Emma Soames and Nonie Chapman.
